A sewing machine for Sveta
Help Sveta start
sewing again.

Sveta and her family live in Ukraine. They had to leave their home town after it was bombed, and in the new place work is very hard to find. She wants to start a small sewing business to support the family — one good machine is all that stands between her and that first order.

Her story
Work is very hard to find for both Sveta and her husband, and they have two daughters to raise. That is where this starts.
Sveta lives in Ukraine with her husband and their two daughters. She has always sewn — mending, altering, making things last — and now she wants to turn that into work she can rely on: repairs and alterations for neighbours, then small orders of her own.
Her husband is being drafted. The family's hope is that he will serve as part of the national orchestra, but nothing is certain, and the income he brings in may stop at any moment. A sewing machine is not a luxury for them. It is a way for Sveta to keep the household standing on her own terms.
Sewing is quiet, steady work. It can be done at home, between school runs and air raid alerts, and it pays the same whether the week has been calm or not. That is exactly why she chose it.

What the money is for
A solid middle-range home sewing machine — the kind built to run every day rather than a few evenings a year — together with the essentials needed to actually work on it: needles, threads, scissors and cutting tools, a decent iron, and the small supplies that get used up week after week.
Priced honestly, that comes to $1,700 — no padding, no wish list. Enough to start earning, and nothing more.
